Social Studies & Business Team

Social Studies teachers can use different approaches to teach the concepts and knowledge of the physical and social world that surrounds us. Some teachers use a textbook-oriented approach which focuses teaching primarily on content information from a textbook. And others may use an activities-oriented approach which bases student learning on doing projects, experiments, and activities. For either approach adaptations for students with special needs must be made to reflect the chosen approach to instruction. The following videos, articles, and links exemplify strategies for adapting textbook-oriented approaches and activities-oriented approaches to teaching social studies in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms.
